The film is about culture, violence, complicity and desensitization. It follows a woman who witnesses an arson attack and does nothing, then carries on with her day - a regimented routine, until her subconscious catches up with her to the point of collapse.
The film integrates clinical elements, skin care, rashes, burns, glass, and fire. The biggest moment/stunt in the film features a woman fully engulfed in flames.
Using practical effects with materials such as gel, cream and lotion to emulate the distortion and tactile nature of the film, I created a logo as well as branding for the film.
Observation
Skincare products/packaging have bubbles, textures, and colours that create natural diffusion/distortions.
Insight
Using the element of skincare to created layered compositions of blurs/fades and texture. It parallels the film where we blur over things we don’t want to see, hide imperfections, and obscure reality - like skincare products.
Idea
Using skincare and cosmetic substances to obscure films branding, creating soft yet sterile imagery for film. short: scanner based photo creation with use of skincare elements such as goops, creams, scrubs etc to create layering.
The film has themes around skincare, medical procedures, and obscurations of reality so with that in mind I devised a structure to create the branding;
