Film + Animation

Experimental Typography 35mm

For this experimental type animation, I found interest in working in an analog, stop-motion style. I was inspired by projects like “Linear Dreams” Richard Reeves, “Rhythmic” Norman McLaren, “Korean Alphabet” Kim In Tae (NFB) and, the more recent work of Sylvian Chaussée.

I created this stop motion by scratching and painting and inking the individual 35mm frames, then scanning and stitching them together to make this film inspired by typography and letterforms.

Bubba

"Bubba" is a experimental documentary I directed, narrated by Nirmal, my grandfather (Bubba), and built from abstract, non-literal imagery, this film explores the experience of belonging, assimilation and how recollections change overtime. It's a story of my grandpa's immigration from India to Canada at age twelve and all the complexities that come with it.

Film is currently being submitted to festivals but so far has been accepted into festivals such as;

DOXA
(Western Canada’s Biggest Documentary Film Festival)
(Vancouver)
The Alternative Film Festival
(Toronto)
Pebbles Film Festival (Milan)
CUTV Community Film Showcase
(Montreal)
FearNoFilm Festival (Salt Lake City, USA).

Beetle Pathways

I’ve always loved the pathways beetles leave on bark and wanted to make a little stop motion animation of them.
